Come along and trial to formally represent the Northern Territory at the Australian Youth Beach Volleyball Championships.
Trials will be for young people born in 2007 to 2011. If you were born in 2006 and are interested in trialling, please come along as Volleyball NT may be able to request age-group exemptions.

Nil.
Eligibility criteria:
- Must be a registered member of Volleyball NT
- Must attend both trials (if an athlete is only available for one trial, please note this on your application. This will not exclude athletes from selection)
- Born in 2006-2011
- Ability to train at least once per week in the lead-up to the competition
- Ability to travel from Saturday 16 March 2024, returning to Darwin at the latest on Saturday 23 March 2024 (exact travel timeframes will be dependent on flights and best costs)
- An ability to make an initial payment of $300 by Friday 2 February 2024 if selected.

Please note: Number of teams selected will be dependent on availability of coaches and volunteers, as well as financial factors. Volleyball NT wants to provide opportunities for young athletes while also remaining competitive, reflecting that this is an interstate representative event.
Weather
Trials will proceed regardless of wet weather as beach volleyball is an outdoor sport.
Please note that trials will be paused or cancelled if there is lightning observable.
Parents
Parents are welcome to attend and observe, but are asked to not communicate with the selection panel during trials. Parents in attendance are bound by the Volleyball NT Code of Conduct.
Please bring:
- Visor/sunglasses if wanted
- Drink bottle
- Towel
- A change of clothes is recommended
Athletes must not wear any clothing affiliated with clubs or representative teams to trials.
Financials
Athletes will need to fund their trip costs. This will include return flights to Queensland (either directly to Gold Coast or to Brisbane with a hire car, dependent on costs), accommodation, uniforms, food, team registration, and any other expendables associated with the trip. While every effort will be made to reduce costs through sponsorship and through booking cost-effective options, projected costs are between $1200-1500.
If selected, athletes would be eligible to apply for up to $650 grant from the Australian Sports Commission (https://www.sportaus.gov.au/grants_and_funding/local_sporting_champions). This would need to be submitted by 31 January 2024. Please note application does not guarantee the grant.
Volleyball NT will also explore other avenues of funding and subsidies.
If selected, an initial payment of $300 would be required by Friday 2 February 2024.
A further payment schedule will be communicated when selections are formalised.
Child safety
Volleyball NT is committed to child-safe guarding practices. This means all adults involved in the trip will undergo comprehensive screening outlined in the Volleyball Australia Child Safeguarding Policy.
